How we work, from first call to live system
No guesswork about what you are buying. These are the commitments we make on every engagement, what we need from you in return, and how we keep quality measurable rather than assumed.
Four commitments we make on every project
Agree what “done” means first
Acceptance criteria are written before work starts, so success is a shared definition rather than an opinion at the end.
Test as we build
Quality checks run alongside development, not after it. Defects found in the same week they are written cost a fraction to fix.
Show, don’t report
Every iteration ends with working software you can use yourself, plus a short written summary of progress, risks and decisions.
Leave you independent
Documentation, source code and credentials are yours. We build so that another team could pick the work up tomorrow.
What we ask of you
Projects succeed faster when the client side is set up for it. We are not precious about process, but three things make a real difference:
One decision-maker. Someone who can settle a question within a day or two, rather than a committee that meets monthly.
Access to real users. An hour with the people who will use the system is worth a week of assumptions.
Honest constraints. Budget ceilings, immovable deadlines and internal politics are easier to design around when we know about them early.
How we communicate
- A named consultant as your point of contact
- A written progress note every iteration
- A live demonstration you can join or skip
- Immediate notice when something changes cost or timeline
- Plain English, not jargon, in every report
Common questions before we start
How quickly can you start?
Discovery work can usually begin within two weeks of an agreement. Urgent testing or advisory work can often start sooner — ask us.
Can you work with our existing team?
Yes. We regularly work alongside in-house developers, supplying testing, specialist skills or extra delivery capacity.
Who owns the code and the documentation?
You do. Everything we produce for you is handed over in full at the end of the engagement.
What if the requirements change?
Changes are expected. We agree the impact on cost and timeline in writing before the change is made, so there are no surprise invoices.
Do you take on small pieces of work?
Yes. A one-off SEO audit, a test strategy review or a few days of advice are all perfectly normal engagements.
How do you charge?
Fixed price for defined scope, a day rate for flexible work, or a monthly retainer for ongoing support. See engagement models.
